Trying Something New

Hello all,

What would you like to know about Khen Rinpoche or any Tibetan Buddhist teaching master, or meditation or buddhism, before this teaching Lama arrives on March 1st, so youcan benefit from his talks and teachings?

I’d like to give an evening teaching/ presentation to prepare people and help smooth the way for understanding what he is about and what he will talk about.  Talk about him as a teacher of high standing with the Dalai Lama, what he teaches and how this happens in your experience.

Khen Lobzang Tsetan Rinpoche will be in Tulsa March 1st to March 15th. There will be public Events and Buddhist teachings.

Negative Emotions

Buddhism itself, is a skill set that deliberately (from the get go 2500 years ago), teaches you to fish so you can go get your own food supply. It’s an Okie’s  survivalist’s Dream.

The Reality of Grief

Having a re-occurant memory of “grief”….is it not reliving the sadness again and again? Doesn’t memory of loss take place in the present? It can remain unresolved, painful, for years. Or it can be fresh. It can interfere with living our lives and become an obstacle our loved ones would never want for us. Grief is not spoken of. Especially to our being when it is happening. It is trauma. How then can we view “grief” as humans, something we all share and will go through? Where is our shared cultural support? The education we need to know to help ourselves and our neighbors.  And how can we create our own unique individual narrative inside ourselves that will carry us through? More →

January 2012 Practice Advice

Questions answered:

  • What is practice?
  • Can we break the habit of anxiety?
  • Why should we deliberately care about how others feel if we are improving ourselves? What is the buddhist common sense about that?

Practice is anything you do again and again. An outcome of practice is often an unwanted outcome. Anxiety “can” be an outcome of repeating negative messages to oneself such as “what would happen if” all the while, ignoring what is happening at the moment. And so, control over what happens next is lost due to worry.

Positive practice is anything done again and again that brings a more comfortable outcome long term, both for you and for everyone else. More →
